Location
Riverhead Guesthouse is
located on the south side of the Hokianga Harbour. This beautiful
ancient Kauri Villa was built in 1871and relocated by the Holdaway
family in 1979.
It sits on a raised platform above the historic township of Horeke. The
house was cleverly placed so as to allow a panoramic vista of the upper
reaches of the Hokianga Harbour from all rooms. You can wander down the
drive and across the road to visit New Zealand’s oldest pub, The Horeke
Tavern which sits over the water. Fancy a day’s sightseeing? The famous
Wairere Boulders are just around the corner or The Waitangi Treaty House
and Paihia are about 45 minutes away.
The Keri Keri Stone Store is still as it was built back in early 1800s
with guided tours through this and Kemp House, all part of the oldest
first settlement in the country.
